Exciting things ahead in new era for Mystic Park

NEW operators and existing users are looking forward to a positive future and exciting opportunities at Mystic Mountain Bike Park.

Elevation Mystic Operations Pty Ltd has taken over management, operations and maintenance of the park following council's awarding of the contract to parent company Elevation Parks (EV) earlier this year.

The change saw Alpine Community Plantation (ACP) - the community-based not-for-profit partnership between council, Hancock Victorian Plantations (HVP) and community groups Alpine Cycling Club Inc, Bright and District Chamber of Commerce and the North East Victoria Hang Gliding Club Inc. which had managed the park for over a decade - dissolved this month.

Elevation Mystic Operations general manager Emma Chadwick said it was an exciting time for Mystic Park.

“We had asked a number of Mystic users earlier in the year what they most wanted to see in the park,” she said.

“We are excited to have commenced planning based on this input, including master planning of a progressive and extended trail network, and building out a social space for riders.

“We have also been working on local partnerships with businesses to realise additional services we can offer to riders, hikers, runners and paragliders.

“We look forward to sharing these plans with the local community, our stakeholders, and the broader riding community soon through a consultation process.

“We have already in the first three months of operation revamped the much loved Hero Trail and Shred Kellys with our sister company DirtArt, which is just a taste of what is to come for Mystic in the trail building space.”

Alpine Cycling Club MTB coordinator Cassie Lee said the club is also excited about the future direction of Mystic Park.

“ACC has had a long history with Mystic Park with many of the members of our club being integral in the development of the park into what it is today,” she said.

“The move to having Mystic managed by Elevations Parks provides an opportunity for significant trail upgrades, ongoing trail maintenance and greater accessibility for all level riders which is something that Alpine Cycling Club has long envisioned but, due to declining volunteer numbers, has been unable to fully realise.

“ACC is hoping that the fresh resources, new energy, and the expertise the Elevation Parks are bringing to Mystic will transform the park into a space that better serves all the MTB community's needs.

“We are working on establishing a strong relationship with Elevation Parks through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

“This partnership is a positive step that ensures ongoing input from ACC into the future of Mystic.

“Elevation Parks shares our commitment to preserving the park’s unique character while working toward improvements that will enhance the experience for all who visit.”
