‘TRAGIC, GRISLY END’

DARCY McNamara was yesterday sentenced to 20 years in jail with a non-parole period of 14 years for his role in the murder of Wangaratta man Nathan Day, which was described as a ‘tragic and grisly end’.

Appearing before Supreme Court Justice Michael Croucher, 44 year old McNamara, of Wangaratta, had pleaded guilty to the charge of murder on the basis he was present and intentionally assisted, encouraged or directed the commission of the offence by co-offender Phillip Dunn.

Dunn, 61, is set to be sentenced on Monday, after he pleaded guilty to one charge of assisting an offender.
