Murder trial off

AFTER months of discussion to schedule a jury trial for Phillip Dunn over the alleged murder of Wangaratta man Nathan Day, Dunn has pleaded guilty to the charge of assisting an offender.

Dunn has had multiple appearances in the Supreme Court this year as the impact of COVID-19 hindered efforts to commence a jury trial, as he had pleaded not guilty to the murder of Mr Day.

The new charge of assisting an offender was filed in the Supreme Court last week when Dunn, 60, appeared via video link in custody before Justice Michael Croucher.
