WHAT a celebration for the Bergin family held on Sunday, June 12.
Almost 80 descendants of Tom and Jean Bergin travelled from Perth, Bundaberg, Canberra, Melbourne, Bendigo, and many parts of North East Victoria for a reunion at Peechelba Community Centre, a wonderful, warm and comfortable facility for this event according to Di Boag.
Four surviving "Bergin girls", sisters Win Barry (91), Margaret McCauley (90) and Eileen LeFoe (88) thoroughly enjoyed the day, while Pat Nish (93) was recuperating in hospital after a recent fall.
Di said the original Bergin family emigrated from Ireland in 1855, settling at Thoona in "the spring of 1874" with other connecting families from Boorhaman, Warrenbayne and Euroa areas.
"There was lots of chatting, laughter and catching up with cousins sharing past memories and sharing of family events," she said.
