THE Strathbogie Tableland History Group, with the support of the Victorian Government and the Public Record Office Victoria have created a new heritage trail in the heart of the Strathbogie township.
The trail gives insight into life from the early 1840s when squatters took up large tracts of land in the rugged Strathbogie Ranges and ran sheep and cattle.
A map is available and outlines some of the heritage sites, including the Strathbogie Links Golf Course, the Memorial Hall, the Co–operative and then General Store, the Post Office, the Butter Factory and residence, the Blacksmiths, Lolly Shop and residence, the Presbyterian (now Uniting) Church, the Orange Lodge and Public Hall, the Wesleyan/Methodist Church, the Strathbogie Hotel (originally RH Graham's Store) and Nolan's Saleyards.
If your walk sparks more curiosity and you would like to purchase additional reading material, contact the Strathbogie Tableland History Group via email at strathbogiehistory@gmail.com or find them on Facebook.
After you have enjoyed the Strathbogie Heritage trail, visitors can make their way back to Euroa via Polly McQuinns Weir and Gooram Falls.
