WANGARATTA'S vaccination clinic closed its doors for the final time last Thursday, having administered around 46,000 vaccines in just over a year.
Northeast Health Wangaratta's (NHW) operational director for COVID–19 planning and response, Amanda Wangman, said she was proud of the work completed by the clinic, particularly staff.
"We've got a number of partners and sponsors that have helped us out along the way as well, which has been just incredible," she said.
Ms Wangman said funding for the hub would stop at the end of the month.
The vaccination clinic, which was a sub–hub of the Ovens Murray Public Health Unit, opened to the public in May 2021, originally operating from Clark Street, before relocating to the former Holden dealership on Tone Road in July 2021.
According to Ms Wangman, the clinic had recently been averaging 150–180 vaccinations a day while operating two days a week, but had seen an increase in uptake after NHW announced the clinic was closing, and even administered a first dose of vaccine on its last day.
At its peak, almost 500 vaccinations were administered in a day at the clinic, according to NHW.
NHW still runs the screening clinic on Vincent Road and the COVID Positive Pathways program, which provides support at home for Victorians diagnosed with COVID–19.
NHW may also provide outreach vaccination as well.
COVID–19 vaccinations will continue to be available through participating GPs and pharmacies.
These can be found at https://covid–vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/booking/.
The COVID–19 screening clinic will continue to operate from its Vincent Road site, with both PCR tests and rapid antigen tests available.
The screening clinic operates from 8am – 11am Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
