POLICE are investigating a fatal crash at Mitta Mitta on Thursday evening.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said it is understood a car slid down an embankment before rolling on Bushbank Road about 9.50pm.
The driver of the car, a 28-year-old Bandiana man, died at the scene.
The passenger of the vehicle was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be established and the investigation remains ongoing.

MEANWHILE, Wangaratta police have reported that a driver travelling at a speed of 164km/h near Glenrowan last month was allegedly caught speeding at 173km/h on Boxing Day.
Police said the the 46-year-old male from Canberra was detected travelling at 164km/h on the Hume Freeway at Glenrowan on November 4 and his vehicle was impounded at a cost to him of $1000 and he will be summonsed to appear at court at a later date.
The same driver was detected by members from the State Highway Patrol North office travelling at 173 km/h on the Western Highway Bacchus Marsh on Boxing Day.
He underwent a preliminary oral fluid test which indicated the presence of an illicit drug, and he subsequently refused to accompany police for a further evidentiary drug test. This time he was driving a rental car, and enquiries with the rental company established the rental agreement had expired.
At the request of the company the keys were seized, and the rental company will collect the car.
The driver will be summonsed to appear at court at a later date for the offences of refusing to accompany police for oral fluid test and exceeding the speed limit.
