Eddie Betts to play with Whorouly

ONE of the greatest forwards ever to play the game, Eddie Betts, will take to the field this Saturday in the O&K, suiting up for Whorouly when they take on Goorambat at Whorouly.

Betts (350 AFL games, 640 goals) announced the news on his Instagram page yesterday, citing his desire to play with brother–in–law and Whorouly mainstay, Daniel White.

"This weekend I have been signed as a Lion with Whorouly footy club in the Ovens and King league, the club that my brother–in–law Dan plays for and the community that always welcomes my family to fish the river in the off season," he wrote.

"Get down to Whorouly footy club this Saturday 18th, a club impacted by bushfires and COVID and buy a sausage from the canteen as we go head to head with Goorambat.

"It's gonna be freezing so a bit different from Darwin, bring your snow gear."

Whorouly club president Eddie Costenaro was overjoyed at the news, and said he hoped a large crowd would make their way out to Whorouly on Saturday to watch the master at work, which just happens to be the club's sponsors' day.
