Very dry start to August

IT has been a very dry start to August in northern districts of Victoria, including major towns in the North East.

The first 12 days days of August yielded only 5.2mms of rainfall at Wangaratta, 9.2mms at Rutherglen, 1.4mms at Albury and 2.2mms at Benalla.

It has been the driest first 12 days of August at both Albury and Benalla since 1944.

The first 12 days of August has also had more frosts than us...
