KAI McPhan was working through his resume in class on Friday morning as an ordinary year 10 student at Cathedral College, but what he had experienced the night before was something out of this world.
The 15-year-old and his fellow year 10s had the night of their young lives as ARIA-award winning duo Peking Duk crashed their school formal at the WJ Findlay Oval clubrooms on Thursday night.
Fulfilling Kai’s brave request which went viral a week earlier, the duo of Reuben Styles and Adam Hyde sent a packed house of students and staff alike into a frenzy.
“The atmosphere was crazy,” Kai said.
“It was amazing; walking in through the back door with the Peking Duk boys behind me was unreal.”

Kai sent an email to the pair earlier in the month asking if they could play at his formal after-party in his backyard.
Styles and Hyde were so enamored by the “sweetness” of the request, they posted it on social media, initially asking for 50,000 likes to go through with Kai’s wish.
Comments on Peking Duk's initial post commended Kai's well-written email, particularly his "kindest of all kind regards" sign-off, and his offer of the use of his sister Taya's “really big” speaker.
Such was the public reception, the pair announced they would be coming to Wangaratta on Nova FM, with the post registering 46,800 likes.
Admittedly a little tired and “still buzzing” following the party and his appearance on Channel 7 breakfast show Sunrise on Friday morning, Kai said the past two weeks had been a hectic experience since rising to fame, which capped off with a follow request from Peking Duk that morning.
Before the duo arrived, the cohort enjoyed the “pre-entertainment” provided by Kai’s mate Harvey Jacka behind the decks as a prelude of what was to come,
The shrine of “Kai’s sisters speaker” was also lit up and ready to go for Peking Duk.
As Styles and Hyde arrived late Thursday night, they quickly caught up with Kai, mum Shannon, sister Taya and school principal Nick Jones while suiting up to go behind the decks.
Throughout the night the pair had the whole cohort dancing and belting out well-renowned songs “Fire” and “High” among many others.
Kai said his favourite moment was being picked up by Styles and placed on his shoulders as their last song played, almost hitting the roof as they partied on centre stage.
“I tore up the dance floor,” he said.
“I love their song Fire, but I just love all of their songs.”
The duo even had some staff getting on top of each other’s shoulders as they hit the dance floor with the year 10s.
Kai thanked the Peking Duk producers along with Mr Jones for their help in setting up his dream gig and meeting with the acclaimed duo.
Styles and Hyde are set to play at the Supercars' Gold Coast 500 over the weekend, before taking their famous Bunnings Warehouse Rave parties to Brisbane and Canberra in November.
