COVID–19 mandates are set to be replaced by strong recommendations, as part of a move which will see the state's pandemic declaration come to an end next week.
From 11.59pm on Wednesday, Victorians will no longer be required by law to isolate after testing positive to COVID–19, with the practice instead strongly recommended by the government.
Similar changes will be made for close contacts continually testing negative on a rapid antigen test, and advice around mask–use indoors, which will both become strong recommendations.
Powers under OH&S laws also exist which could see vaccinations for people in workplaces – including in the public service – remain compulsory, however, employers will be able to dictate which measures are most appropriate to prevent the spread of COVID–19 within the workplace.
The State Government also advised 'departmental secretary directions' would be enforced to ensure vaccination requirements remain in place in health service settings.
