WANGARATTA’S new 50 metre outdoor pool passed its first big test with flying colours last Sunday, buoying hopes of attracting state events in the not too distant future.

Around 200 swimmers from 15 district clubs made use of the new facilities for the Ovens & Murray District Swimming Association’s fifth interclub series.

Association president Brendon Shiels said the new pool was “fantastic with the new management very accommodating during the planning and execution of this competition”.
