Holidays no excuse for dangerous driving

DON’T RISK IT: Highway Patrol units will be actively targeting dangerous drivers for the school holiday period.

WANGARATTA’S Highway Patrol (WHP) is warning motorists to take increased care on roads as winter conditions set in and school holidays start this week.

Senior Sergeant Darren Wittingslow of WHP said police would be ramping up traffic operations for the holiday period and monitoring the main causes of road trauma.

“Police will have a highly visible presence conducting random drug tests and breath tests to make sure drivers aren’t impaired,” Snr Sgt Wittingslow said.
