After eight years with Parkinson’s disease, Eileen Conroy’s quality of life has improved immensely. The 67 year old Oxley resident was out and about in Wangaratta last week after undergoing Deep Brain Stimulation surgery three weeks before. Parkinson’s is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement. Symptoms start gradually, sometimes starting with a barely noticeable tremor in just one hand, with stiffness and slowing of movement also being common.
