A LOCAL resident with a keen eye and a good dose of creative flair has triumphed over termites; creating a sculpture of an eagle from a chunk of waste wood.

Michael Chambeyron said while he was out walking, he came across the remains of a stump on the nature strip which had the residue of white ant infestation – the honeycomb pieces reminding him a little of the texture of feathers.

He broke off a few bits and pieces and took them back to his shed where he combined them with a stump of wood from his own garden to create an eagle with wings outstretched.
