WANGARATTA council breathed a sigh of relief after the State Government’s announcement allowing overnight accommodation and re-opening of certain caravan parks and campgrounds.

Premier Daniel Andrews announced further lifts to COVID-19 restrictions earlier this week stating that from the start of next week, overnight stays can resume but caravan parks and campgrounds with communal facilities must remain closed.

Council’s manager of economic development, environment and strategy planning Celeste Brockwell said council had been busy working on a number of campaigns and initiatives to encourage tourism to begin returning.
