Keeping people warm at the Wang Night Shelter

LOCAL men and women who find themselves without a roof over their heads this winter will be provided with a safe place to stay thanks to an initiative supported by local churches and volunteers.

The Wang Night Shelter began as a pilot project last year when it opened for six weeks to demonstrate how with virtually no budget, a local venue could be transformed into a shelter providing temporary accommodation for those experiencing homelessness.

Project coordinator Di Duursma said members of local churches had been aware of the need in the community for a long time and had been looking for a practical solution.
