Lifeline for casual staff

Some dormant council workers could be redeployed under $1.7 billion program

UP to 30-40 Wangaratta council staff employed on a casual basis, currently not working, may be thrown a lifeline under the $1.7 billion Working for Victoria Program.

Council executive have been advocating for access to the program and Victorian Treasurer Tim Pallas confirmed at a press conference on Wednesday that councils will have access to apply.

It comes after Mr Pallas refused to bail out council employees who were not eligible to access the $1500 a fortnight JobKeeper payments.
