One industry that’s been a tough nut to crack

AT a time when many local businesses are facing challenges the likes of which they have never seen before, local walnut growers Carol Kunert and Mike Burston may be luckier than most.

While their harvest may be down a little this year, the farming aspect of their business, King Valley Walnuts in Myrrhee, has been mostly unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ms Kunert said their workforce, which grows from a crew of four to 14 during harvest time in April, was on site or living nearby before restrictions were put in place.
