Carpenter says staying motivated proving difficult with no return date in sight

WANGARATTA Rovers veteran Sam Carpenter admits the social distancing and self isolation measures have made keeping fully fit tough but believes he has built a strong enough base to be ready to go when the season re-starts.

Carpenter, who turns 33 next week, enjoyed one of his best ever seasons in 2019, winning the Bob Rose Medal as he looked re-energised following the arrival of Daryn Cresswell as coach.

And with the Hawks undergoing another rigorous pre-season, Carpenter was in top gear when the season was officially put on hold.
