AN exhibition which looks back on a long lasting friendship between the people of Timor Leste and the community of North East Victoria is on display in the Bainz Gallery at the Wangaratta Library.

It explains why and how the local friendship groups were formed and includes striking images by Ovens Valley photographer Stephen Henderson, who visited the country and the localities of Atauro, Venilale and Lacluta in 2015.

While the COVID-19 crisis prevented the official opening of the exhibition to take place by the new Timor Leste ambassador to Australia, Friends of Lacluta’s Andy Kimber said the modest collection on display illustrates what a remarkable relationship the two countries have.
