Assault and theft down but family incidents on the rise

ASSAULTS and thefts are down, but family violence incidents have increased by more than 10 per cent in Wangaratta, according to the latest data released by the Crime Statistics Agency (CSA) yesterday.

Total family violence incidents for the year ending December 2019, showed a 13.5 per cent increase from 459 incidents recorded in 2018, to 521 in 2019.

Women were the most affected family member according to the data, with 418 women compared to 103 men affected.
