Myrrhee hops farm reels in first proper harvest after devastating fire

FIRST FULL CROP BACK: Greg Croke is thrilled that Ellerslie Hop could get back on its feet and the harvest looks like a cracker.

ELLERSLIE Hop Australia at Myrrhee is in the midst of its first full harvest since tragedy struck in 2018 when fire ripped through destroying the farm.

Equipment, sheds and the majority of its 2018 crop were left charred and gutted, but those behind the local business, established in 1932, are now tasting the feeling of success after its rise from the ashes.

The operation since the fire has invested more than $10.5 million and after reopening in 2019 and getting recommissioned the operation is now “in full flight” something that owner Greg Croke said is a pleasant thing to watch.
