State push on fourth bin

Container deposit scheme also part of new initiatives

RURAL City of Wangaratta residents may have to wait several years to be included in the statewide rollout of a fourth waste bin, specifically for glass, which forms part of a $129 million package of recycling initiatives announced by the State Government this week.

In addition to a bin for glass waste, the government has also included the implementation of a container deposit scheme, which is the first in a suite of new policies under the Recycling Victoria package.

Speaking to the Wangaratta Chronicle yesterday, council’s director of infrastructure services, Alan Clark, said they haven’t been given much detail about the initiatives as yet.
