Third stage of cycling tour draws crowds

THE Jayco Herald Sun Tour cycling race came to an exciting finish for the third stage of the event on Friday afternoon at Swan Street.

Riders endured a gruelling 178km ride from Bright to Wangaratta via Tawonga, Mytreford and Milawa with Mitchelton-SCOTT rider Kaden Groves crossing the line first for the third stage.

Mayor Dean Rees said it was an incredible race to watch and was especially exhilarating during the final stretch of the race but felt for the cyclists enduring the hot weather on the day. “Great to see it here in Wangaratta and so great to see it come through our town,” Mr Rees said. “It’s a great thing to bring more people in and spend some money in these rural towns.”
