Incidents down for second successive year, but family violence is up

THE total number of criminal incidents in Wangaratta has dropped for a second year in a row.

According to data from the Crime Statistics Agency (CSA) for the year ending September 30, 2019 released yesterday, the total number of criminal incidents reduced by 1.7 per cent from 1740 in 2018 to 1710 in 2019.

The incident rate (per 100,000 population) of 5840.1 was also well under the state average of 6032.1 incidents per 100,000.
