Fine wines impress judges

Sam Miranda wins best sparkling and best wine for King Valley region.

A RECORD number of 253 entries from 46 wineries were judged at this year’s North East Victorian Wine Challenge (NEVWC) staged at Beechworth’s George Kerferd Hotel.

The annual event in its 10th year showcased some of the finest wines last week from Beechworth, King Valley, Alpine Valleys, Rutherglen and Glenrowan – the five wine growing regions in Victoria’s North East zone.

With and intensive three-day judging across a number of classes in 15 categories, Sam Miranda won ‘Best Sparkling Wine’ with its NV Prosecco as well as selected ‘Best Wine’ for the King Valley region.
