Steep terrain makes fire access difficult

FIREFIGHTERS are continuing to work in steep and difficult terrain to contain multiple bushfires started by lightning on Thursday.

Forest Fire Management Victoria (FFMVic), Hume Deputy Chief Fire Officer Aaron Kennedy said fire towers detected multiple fires burning in Abbeyard, Dandongadale, Mt Selwyn, Edi, Tallangatta Valley, Sandy Creek, Mitta Mitta and Eskdale.

Late yesterday afternoon the Dandonadale-Mt Buffalo fire was 152ha, Abbeyard-Mt Buggery fire was 60 hectares in size, Mt Selwyn 41ha, and Long Jack Creek 63ha,
