A 50th anniversary commemorative service was held last Sunday at the Wangaratta cemetery for Bernd Binder, one of two Wangaratta men who were killed in the Vietnam War.

It was exactly 50 years since the 21 year old died after a tropical thunderstorm detonated a Claymore mine he was redeploying from a sentry position to a machinegun pit at Bien Hoa Province, South Vietnam.

Terry ‘Butch’ Renshaw, 22, also from Wangaratta was killed on May 30, 1967.
