Hundreds giving Danihers more drive for MND cause

ON THE WAY: There was no shortage of support as Neale Daniher (centre), his daughter Bec (who is Fight MND campaign director), and theire hundreds of drive supporters were sent on their way by Premier Daniel Andrews (right) yesterday. Mr Andews didn’t come empty handed, donating $1 million to the cause on behalf of Victorians, and sending the crew with his best wishes as they set their sights on Wangaratta.

WANGARATTA will welcome participants in the annual Daniher Drive this afternoon and evening, as they complete the second day of their trek from Werribee to Mount Eliza.

Like the Big Freeze at the ‘G’ event, the drive raises funds for and awareness of motor neurone disease through former AFL player and coach Neale Daniher’s Fight MND charity.

Neale was diagnosed with the disease, which he terms “the beast”, in 2013, but is driven to confront the challenges of the condition as he leads the charge to help prevent the suffering of those who may be diagnosed with the condition in the future.
