Olympic pool fate sealed, with council confirming dual pool concept not feasible

RUNNING the Olympic pool and a new Barr Reserve pool concurrently in a ‘transition’ season would not be a feasible exercise, according to council.

Rural City of Wangaratta director of community wellbeing Jaime Chubb said the existing pool in Swan Street was “not the facility our community needs”, with structural issues in surrounding buildings adding to the importance of the 2019-’20 season being its last.

“We are keen to get the best result for our community, and that is with the new pool,” Ms Chubb told the Wangaratta Chronicle.
