Kangaroo kill aiming to feed pet food industry

UNDER the State Government’s permanent Kangaroo Harvesting Program which began yesterday, up to 2945 eastern grey kangaroos can be shot and commercially harvested for the pert food industry in the North East over the next three months.

ALMOST 3000 grey kangaroos could be killed for pet food across the North East in the next three months, under the State Government’s permanent Kangaroo Harvesting Program which began yesterday.

The program replaces the Kangaroo Pet Food Trial which ran for the past five years.

Minister for Agriculture, Jaclyn Symes, said the permanent program will help to better manage kangaroo populations around the state and support Victoria’s kangaroo pet food industry.
