KILLED: The body of Wangaratta man Nathan Day (pictured) was found buried in a garden at a Ryan Avenue property in Wangaratta in September last year. Phillip Dunn and Darcy McNamara are charged with murdering Mr Day, and their committal hearing got underway at Wangaratta Magistrates Court this week.

THE family of Nathan Day heard an incised wound in his neck was “absolutely” the cause of his death, as the two men accused of his murder, Phillip Dunn and Darcy McNamara, faced the first and second days of their committal hearing this week.

Dunn, 43, and McNamara, 60, were arrested on September 6, 2018 after police had located the 34-year-old’s body buried in a garden at McNamara’s Ryan Avenue property in Wangaratta, following the six week search for Mr Day.

Mr Day was believed to have died on or around July 26 last year.

Wangaratta magistrate Michelle Mykytowcyz said the hearing, which commenced on Monday at Wangaratta Magistrates’ Court, can be expected to run for 10 days.
