Organics divide in towns

FOUR YEARS AGO: This council crew was excited with the initial roll out of the organics waste bins. Now they want to extend the service to other city towns.

RESIDENTS of four Rural City of Wangaratta townships are split on whether they want to be a part of a compulsory organics bin service that will cost $60,000.

Councillors will decide whether to proceed with the roll out at tomorrow night’s September meeting with the assistance of survey results from some people living in Milawa, Oxley, Glenrowan and Hamilton Park.

Two opt-in trials were conducted over 10 weeks in late 2018 in Glenrowan and Hamilton Park.
