Real estate agents bracing for “a 90-day sprint” for properties in the rural city

THE housing market in Wangaratta will only grow stronger by year’s end according to Stockdale and Leggo director Peter Joyce, who said “buyers can’t mess around, if you like a property you have got to go for it otherwise you’ll miss out”.

A healthy market for property owners has seen 10 per cent increase in the median house price to $315,000 in May 2018, while the upper quartile price for the region was listed as $387,000.

The median rent price for house listings grew from $290 per week in May 2018 to $310 in May this year, while unit rentals have grown from $220 to $240 in the last 12 months.

Mr Joyce said the local market has been strong for a number of years and prices have “risen significantly”.
