A WANGARATTA man has been sentenced to three years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to charges relating to child grooming and failure to comply with reporting obligations of the sex offender registry.

Christopher Johnson was in custody when he appeared at Wangaratta Magistrates’ Court last week to be sentenced.

The court heard the 33-year-old was convicted of prior child sex offences in New South Wales in 2012 and was placed on the sex offender’s registry for 15 years, requiring regular self-reporting to police of his online activity and interactions with underage persons up until 2027.
