Big screen moment nears for locals in new Kelly film

THE newest silver screen take on the Ned Kelly story is expected to premiere at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival.

Scenes for The True History of the Kelly Gang, based on the novel by Peter Carey, were filmed near Wangaratta late last year, with some locals involved as extras.

Star Russell Crowe, believed to be portraying bushranger Harry Power in the movie, recently tweeted that he had seen the Justin Kurzel directed production and “images from the film are still haunting me”.
