    WANGARATTA single mum Linda Grimshaw says the Federal Government’s Newstart allowance for job seekers “has never been enough”.

    She is among the 4400 Newstart recipients in Indi who Independent MP Helen Haines (MHR, Indi) is calling on to share their stories to build a case to the government to raise the weekly allowance by $75.

    Having been a recipient of the Newstart allowance for the past eight years, Linda said the benefit is a real battle to live on.

    The 54-year-old was working 15 hours per week in a casual position to compliment the $150 per week government benefit she received just to get by, before she was diagnosed with breast cancer in November last year.
