Michael Cardamone seeks to overturn the non parole condition imposed as part of his life sentence for the brutal murder of Whorouly neighbour Karen Chetcuti

THE killer who viciously murdered Whorouly mother of two, Karen Chetcuti, and is serving a life sentence, has made his plea for one day to be eligible for parole.

Michael Cardamone was the first Victorian killer without a prior murder conviction to be sentenced for life without parole for the murder that occurred while he was on parole in January 2016.

Yesterday, Cardamone, 52, appeared – via video link – before Supreme Court Chief Justice Anne Ferguson, Appeal Court president Chris Maxwell and criminal appeal specialist Mark Weinberg to ask for a parole term.

The appeal was in relation to the incident where Cardamone attacked Ms Chetcuti, who was his neighbour at the time, while she was in the vegetable garden at her property and then proceeded to sedate her with horse tranquilliser, inject her with battery acid and set her on fire while she was still alive.
