CFA training facility re-opens after major $3.5m upgrade

AFTER 18 months, Wangaratta’s Country Fire Authority (CFA) practical area drill (PAD) has completed its $3.5 million upgrades and was reopened for trainees across the region.

As a result of Victorian Government funding, the PAD facility has undergone refurbishment works after being one of many facilities to receive a clean up notice from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for using potentially contaminated B-class foam developed by an American manufacturer.

PAD supervisor Richie Gardner said members from the CFA, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, SES, Parks Victoria and Corrections Victoria can now train among the new infrastructural upgrades, which has ensured the facility to be up to standard for the next 30 years.
