Truck fire shuts down Hume Freeway

FIREFIGHTERS were forced to close-off the Hume Freeway for three hours to extinguish an inferno which consumed a prime mover carrying packaged food near Byawatha on Wednesday evening.

Around 17 emergency services vehicles, including 10 Country Fire Authority (CFA) tankers from Wangaratta, South Wangaratta, Glenrowan, Everton, Springhurst and Eldorado were called to the scene at 5.26pm.
