SOUTH Wangaratta Fire Brigade lieutenant Garry Nash has called on all local Country Fire Authority (CFA) volunteers to “get on with the process” following the Upper House’s decision to pass the Fire Services (Reform) Bill late Thursday night.

The CFA will transition into a volunteer-only organisation after the State Government garnered enough support from the Legislative Council to introduce the new legislation.

CFA’s career firefighters and 38 integrated stations, including Wangaratta will be merged with the Metropolitan Fire Brigade to become Fire Rescue Victoria under a restructured fire authority framework, leaving CFA as a separate volunteer organisation.
