Lid firmly on for Hawks

Carpenter says side can’t afford to get ahead of itself after recent wins

THE lure of a fourth consecutive victory isn’t a motivating factor for the Wangaratta Rovers according to midfielder Sam Carpenter as they look to continue their blistering form against Corowa/Rutherglen tomorrow.

The Hawks are on the cusp of the competition’s top five for the first time since 2015 and a win against the Roos at the John Foord Oval will push their record to 6-4 after 10 games.

Carpenter, who has spent a number of years, in two stints, at the Hawks, can’t remember playing in four wins in a row but added the side couldn’t afford to assume victory would just happen.
