WANGARATTA and the rest of North East Victoria is being told to brace for wet winter weather tomorrow.

Bureau of Meteorology Victoria senior forecaster Dean Stewart has advised that a rain band will begin impacting the state from early tomorrow morning, bringing with it widespread rainfall.

Up to 25mms of rain is forecast for Wangaratta and surrounds, with winds in excess of 100kph expected to hit the alpine regions.

It is definitely shaping as a day for winter woollies, raincoats and umbrellas.
