A VFL premiership footballer who played a key role in St Kilda’s 1966 nail-biting grand final defeat of Collingwood, will be the guest speaker at a men’s breakfast event being held in Wangaratta on Friday, June 14.

Wangaratta’s Bob Murray played 153 VFL games for the club from 1963 to 1972 and in 1974, including St Kilda’s only premiership – that 1966 grand final the Saints won by just a point – and he was winner of the club’s best and fairest award in 1969.

Bob will speak about team sports and his football career including that great game, describing the feeling of relief, rather than elation, he initially felt when the siren went.
