Mayor stands by rebranding strategy for future growth but not everyone in favour

IT'S ALL HAPPENING HERE: An example of the new marketing brand, featuring the proposed new logo incorporating a ‘W’ for Wangaratta which also reflects the rural city’s connection to the Ovens and King rivers, and an image with a likely tagline such as ‘Rural city of Day Trips’.

WANGARATTA council’s proposed million dollar rebranding was essential for the future growth and viability of the rural city according to mayor Dean Rees.

The proposal was due to be approved at last night’s monthly council meeting held at the South Wangaratta CFA shed.

“The market research showed there was a really low awareness of our brand outside the rural city, particularly in Melbourne, of what Wangaratta and district has to offer,” Cr Rees said.
