Martin, Haines front runners, while Byatt, Kerr believe still a chance of winning

INDI locals have the electorate as a two candidate race with the result expected to be on a knife’s edge between Liberal Steve Martin and Independent Helen Haines, but The Nationals’ Mark Byatt and Labor’s Eric Kerr yesterday still believed they’re in with a show.

Mr Martin is at 1.55-1 with bookies expecting him to reclaim the historically blue ribbon seat of Indi, while Dr Haines is at 2.35-1, Mr Byatt at 16-1 and Mr Kerr at 34-1.

But Mr Martin is not taking much out of the favourite tag, just as he didn’t when he was behind Dr Haines at the start of the official campaign.
