TWO high traffic volume roads in Wangaratta will be reconstructed following the announcement of $637,297 from Regional Roads Victoria (RRV) this week.

The Sisely Avenue-Swan Street intersection will be reconstructed and the Greta Road-Mason Street roundabout will be upgraded with council matching the announced Fixing Country Roads funding.Council has allocated $420,000 in its draft 2019/20 budget for Sisely Avenue and $767,000 for Greta Road.

Pavement will be reconstructed on Sisely Avenue at the busy Swan Street intersection used by 8000 vehicles per day accessing Wangaratta’s west end and industrial precinct.

Sisely Avenue’s traffic is expected to increase because some 215 hectares of land in the city’s north west has been rezoned to residential, an area that’s expected to provide housing for up to 5000 residents.
