RSL marches to new home

Exciting new chapter for club and city, with membership now past 2300

ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Servicemen who marched stand to attention.

Rousing renditions from a glorious pipe band, symbolic links to Wangaratta’s Light Horse history to flag the memories of the fallen, and the sturdy resolve of veterans and other Wangaratta RSL members marching in sync all provided respectful and memorable pageantry to end one era and officially open another for the Wangaratta RSL sub-branch on Saturday.

Hundreds of people, young and old, many with Iphones in hand recording history, lined Victoria Parade and Faithful Street to observe Saturday’s colourful parade.

Led by the Rats of Tobruk Pipes and Drums band, more than 100 Wangaratta RSL veterans and members marched from their Victoria Parade club premises since 1952, to to their new home – several hundred metres away – in the renovated former Sydney Hotel in Templeton Street.
