New art gallery would aim to attract blockbuster exhibitions

WORLD class blockbuster art exhibitions could come to Wangaratta following a gallery feasibility study that shines the way towards a new building that would help secure high profile artworks.

The works of French Impressionist artists such as Renoir and Monet might not be out of the question if a new gallery has state of the art security, is fitted with adaptable lighting, climate and fumigation specifications required to store the priceless exhibits.

Wangaratta council has allocated $75,000 in its 2019/20 draft budget to look at the feasibility of building a new gallery in the city, with tenders now being sought.
